My dear beloved regulars,
I thought it would be wise to start this monthly book selection with the book that somehow laid the foundation of it all 20 years ago. At that time, I was recovering from a severe depression and had begun my second therapy with a new shrink. I was on a quest that was past beyond myself and was searching for meaningful answers: For I needed to feel useful, I wanted to understand what life was about, what was specifically my life’s purpose. My psychiatrist was also a religious man and, one day, I told him that I couldn’t resolve myself to believe in any spiritual thing because my parents had always taught me that science was the paragon and spirituality only woo-woo stuff for weak-minded people. He asked me if it would make me happier to believe in something and I replied that I thought that it probably would. He looked at me and simply replied: if it makes you happy, why not give it a try then? And I did. It was indeed the beginning of a very intriguing path.
