My dear beloved customers,
A few weeks ago, I told you how, while I was taking my daily walk, I received a whole story and I had to hurry home to write it without even knowing what I was actually writing. It turns out I was writing a children book about difference and uniqueness.
Fast forward, that book is now finished and I’ve just created a tiny publishing house to host it in France. It allows me to go and read it in schools and librairies, I have already one reading booked and a meeting scheduled for another one. I’ve never done any of this before, never been into kids really either, but I never turn down any proposition from the Universe nor a good new adventure.
I wrote “Flasp” first in English and then rewrote it in French to share it with my family who loved it and helped me with the illustrations, which were created with Midjourney AI, and the book’s entire layout.
As you are part of my soul family, I’m thrilled to be able to share it with you now as well until I’m able to find a publisher for the English version. I will release one or two parts, according to their lengths, once a week until the end of it.
I tried a recorded version of each part which was very new for me and not easy in English for I have to think about the way the words are pronounced as well as my tone. So please forgive me if my french accent make some incursions in my reading.
I really hope you’ll enjoy my “Flasp”!
Part 1
Once, there was a bug awakening to life. As its eyes were getting open, it discovered it stood on a green leaf of a very tall tree in the middle of a small wood. Of course, it didn’t know all that and was only embracing its surroundings in awe with its brand new eyes : the blue sky up ahead with faint white clouds, the other tall trees hiding in a semi-darkness, the brown earth bellow paved with moss, sparks of grass and a few green firy ferns, a burst of light and colors farther ahead. The bug took a moment to incorporate what it was seeing.
Then, it took a look at itself, at least the parts it could see, its legs and feet mostly.
A nice cool breeze began to blow and it suddenly sensed something opening on its back: its wings. It moved them softly, at first, to feel them, get acquainted with them, and started lifting slowly and carefully above the leaf it had been born on.
As the bug was flying, testing different kind of speed and height, it discovered it could smell an exquisite range of different perfumes: each tree’s scent, a specific one for each of them even though they were part of the same species, the sweet moldy scent of moist earth and some other unidentified ones carried by the breeze.
