Its hunger satisfied, the bug looked around and saw a large body of shiny liquid that intrigued it. It suddenly felt compelled to go and taste it. It was, in fact, feeling thirsty but the bug didn’t know that. As it started to fly upon it, it noticed a bug flying below as though it were part of the liquid. The bug had a small oval shape, a black body with shiny translucent wings, a small collar of yellow fur around its neck and two yellow tip antennas. As the bug was following the other bug’s every move, it began to play with it, flying high and low, trying to outrace it. The bug was very surprised when its buddy disappeared as soon as its feet touched the water only to come back a few seconds later.

As it was flying back to the surface, it heard a deep voice above say:

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”

The tone of the voice startled the bug and made it a little uneasy. It looked up and saw a giant iridescent bug with four majestic long wings. Despite the scared feeling that was lingering in its abdomen, the bug flew up to reach its new companion.

“Why?” it asked.

“Because underneath the water live fish that would so much love to have you for lunch.”

“Oh... That’s not very nice of them.” said the bug.

“That’s not mean either. This is just how they feed.”

“OK. I guess you are not a fish, then?”

“No. I am a dragonfly.”

“You are very…”, The bug searched for the right word, “impressive.”

“Thank you.”

“What do you eat?”

“Usually, bugs exactly like you but, since I’ve never seen one of your kind before, I will pass on you, in case you are poisonous or something... I am not that hungry, after all. So, what are you?”

Hearing the dragonfly’s words, the bug put some distance between them, just in case it would change its mind.

“I don’t know but I’m sure I am not the edible kind.”

The dragonfly burst out with laughter.

“I like you, kid. What’s your name?”

“Weirdo, apparently.”

The dragonfly laughed again.

“Indeed, that suits you right. Let me give you a piece of advice: Stay away from the water, it is not safe for us. If you are thirsty, drink as quickly as possible or by the shore. But watch out for the frogs on the shore, they might not be as picky as I am about food.”

“Thanks.” said the bug before flying back to the shore as fast as it could.

It sipped some water the same way it had licked the flower powder before, scrutinizing its surroundings to make sure that scrutinizing its surroundings to make sure that there weren’t any frogs, whatever those could be.
